With more than a decade of experience assisting students to reach their academic goals and fulfill their potential, I know how to teach all types of learners. Although my focus is on math, I also tutor a variety of elementary subjects and study skills. I can help students to catch up on their studies or provide them with challenges to get ahead in school. I invest in the learning process by asking questions to get the student thinking and then walk through similar problems until the student is able to solve the original problem on their own. I don't believe that simply giving the student the answer is the best teaching method. By making the student work through the problem on their own they are able to demonstrate a full knowledge of the process and are then able to solve other problems on their own. I challenge each student by providing goals to encourage their progression throughout the tutoring process. I also assign the student homework after each session to promote their learning between our sessions. I am a certified tutor with the Tantasqua Regional school district and specialize in algebra and math prep for a variety of standardized exams. I have passed a background check for the school district.
